About Us 

Harty Street C&K is a thriving community kindergarten operating in Coorparoo for over 65 years. We are an affiliate of C&K run by a volunteer parent management committee. Harty Street C&K provides education and care for 108 children every year in our kindergarten and pre-kindergarten programs. 

About the Role 

A newly created Director role responsible for managing the Harty Street Community Kindergarten operations, leadership and engagement of staff across the five-day span of operations. This role is unique in that you will be afforded the autonomy and empowered to lead the team, set the strategy for the Kindergarten and align the educational goals, whilst also engaging with local community to help ensure the Kindergarten has the facilities and pedagogical programs to remain part of the community for many years to come. 

The Director position also incorporates accountabilities of Educational Leader and Nominated Supervisor. 

About You 

As the Director of Harty Street Kindergarten, you will have the opportunity to set the strategy for the Kindergarten, lead and engage staff to deliver high quality early childhood services and programs.  

To be successful in the role, ideally you will have: 

  • Bachelor of Education (Early Childhood) or equivalent Early Childhood qualification. 
  • Demonstrated leadership experience in educational environment. 
  • Senior first aid certificate, including resuscitation certificate, asthma and anaphylaxis. 
  • Current Suitability Card or Exemption. 
  • Registration with the College of Teacher’s Registration prior to appointment.  Registration must be renewed annually. 
  • Demonstrated knowledge of the C&K Curriculum Approach, Early Years Learning Framework and the Queensland Kindergarten Learning Guidelines. 
  • Knowledge of relevant legislations including National Regulations and the National Quality Standards. 
  • Extensive teaching experience within a play based early childhood environment. 
  • Well-developed ability to support Educators to plan and implement high quality, inclusive, early educational program ensuring the needs of individual children are met. 
  • Proven ability to work effectively and develop relationships within a community organisation, external stakeholders and contractors and Kindergarten families. 
  • Demonstrated ability to effectively lead, mentor and support all staff. 
  • Proven ability to actively support and guide children’s behaviour in positive ways. 
  • Proven ability to work independently and as a team, and make decisions. 
  • Exceptional communication skills including ability to maintain high level of consultation, negotiation and influencing skills. 
  • Highly developed written and verbal communication / presentation skills and information technology skills.   

The Plan 

We would like the successful candidate to commence in January 2023. You may also be required to attend and participate in staff meetings and other activities and events outside of work hours throughout the year to support the children and the kindergarten. 

Hours and times across the five-day period will be discussed directly with the shortlisted candidate.
