About C&K 

The Creche and Kindergarten Association Limited (C&K) is a not-for-profit early childhood provider with nearly 350 early childhood education and care services located across Queensland. C&K acknowledges that each child and family have unique early education and care requirements and so we provide a range of different programs including childcare, kindergarten, outside school hours' care and integrated services. 

About the opportunity 

C&K Fairview Heights Community Kindergarten is a community based not-for-profit Kindergarten located in Toowoomba. The Centre is a single unit Kindergarten that caters for up to 44 children across a week. Our Centre is now looking for a Director Teacher who is passionate about working alongside children in their early years and will contribute to a team that values open communication and sees children as competent and capable learners.

Our Fairview Heights Kindergarten is proud of their large, natural outdoor spaces for children and educators to learn and explore together. The kindergarten operates their program five days a week with each group attending on a five day fortnight basis.

You will be working on a permanent permanent part time basis working with Group B, the end of the week group. Working Thursday, Friday and alternative Wednesdays, 7.5 hours per day 37.5 hours per fortnight.

About you 

You will be a self-starter, passionate about community and possess a creative vision. You must be committed to continuous improvement, through a collaborative approach with colleagues, community, families, and children. Previous Director Teacher experience is desirable but not essential. You must be an approachable leader amongst the community of families, children, and employees; with a hands-on approach in managing the service operationally. You will have the following:

  • Bachelor's Degree in early childhood or equivalent (recognised by ACECQA as an early childhood teaching qualification)
  • Experience in implementing and delivering a Kindergarten program
  • An awareness of the National Quality Framework and Queensland Kindergarten guidelines
  • Current First Aid, CPR and Asthma & Anaphylaxis certification
  • Hold or willing to obtain a paid Blue Card or Exemption Card
  • Passion for creating and delivering a simulating learning environment
  • An understanding of the provision of a safe, well planned indoor and outdoor learning environment
  • Skilled with documenting observations of children's behaviour and development, in the form of learning stories
  • An ability to implement a planned program, in collaboration with the Early Childhood Teacher ensuring the needs of individual children and the group are met
  • Demonstrated experience managing, mentoring and supporting early childhood education and care services/programs to deliver high quality outcomes, and in building a capable and engaged workforce
  • Evidence of sound professional experience that shows initiative and strong sense of personal responsibility for meeting objectives, modelling of professional and ethical behaviour, commitment to personal development; and display or courage in the provision of advice and decision making
