About C&K:

C&K is a not-for-profit organisation which is recognised as one of Queensland’s leading bodies in the Early Childhood and Education sector. Since 1907, the organisation has grown and developed its social purpose agenda and now educates children in 360 centres which is comprised of both Childcare Centres and Kindergartens.

C&K Oakey Community Kindergarten is a small rural setting where children are challenged to meet their unique learning needs. The service has a strong focus on the natural environment and sustainable practices, and the children assist in the maintenance of the herb, vegetable and flower gardens. Each day, food scraps are collected and fed to the centre chooks. Recycling is also a feature of the service, with families collecting items found in nature as well as cardboard rolls, material scraps and egg cartons for use in a creative area. Baskets displayed in the centre are filled with items from nature such as pine cones, stones, shells and logs.

About the role:

C&K Oakey Community Kindergarten is currently looking for an experienced and qualified Teacher/Director for a part-time position commencing soon. As the Director/ Teacher for the service, you will be responsible for managing the operation of a branch Kindergarten service in accordance with C&K standards and policies.

The service is looking for someone who is a self-starter, armed with a creative vision to help the service blossom. An approachable leader amongst the community for families, children and employees; and a successful educator who has a hands-on approach in teaching as well as capable of managing the service operationally.

  • Permanent, Part-time Position – 37.5 hours per fortnight
  • Work every Thursday, Friday and alternative Wednesday

Ideal applicants will have:

  • Completed or currently enrolled in Bachelor’s Degree in Early Childhood or equivalent (recognised by ACECQA as an early childhood teaching qualification).
  • Current registration with the Queensland College of Teachers – Desirable.
  • Prior teaching and directing experience in an early childhood setting is essential.
  • Demonstrated leadership ability including staff performance appraisal and management.
  • Ability to plan and implement a quality, educational and child centered program.
  • Capability of meeting the needs of individual children and the group using the ‘Listening and Learning Together’ curriculum approach.
