About the opportunity

We are currently looking for a Financial Accountant to join our exceptional Finance team. This is a permanent full-time position based in our modern, open plan central office at Kedron. Work hours for this position will be 38 hours per week, Monday to Friday. The successful applicant will be commencing soon! however, the start date may be negotiable for the right candidate.  

As the Financial Accountant, you will be reporting to the Financial Controller, working collaboratively with the business to provide analysis, advice and support and will drive continuous process improvements especially relating to investment, fixed assets and banking. You will also be responsible to manage an Assistant Accountant (Banking) who will be reporting to you within the team.

Role responsibilities

• Ensure the integrity of the general ledger, ensuring accuracy in authorisations, reconciliations and coding of transactions, including GST.
• Ensure fixed assets, investments and banking related processes align with C&K policies and accounting standards.
• Be responsible for maintaining the fixed assets register and ensure timely capital project reporting.
• Perform Cash flow forecasts with recommendation for decisions related to investments.
• Responsible to create and maintain automated processes through software Robotic Process Automation.
• Ensure timely delivery of monthly reports and analysis, including assisting with the CFO report if required.
• Prepare grant/funding acquittals and ensure on time submission
• Proactively identify, drive and implement process improvements
• Ensure effective controls are in place, including proper segregation of duties
• Assist in preparation of statutory reporting, review inputs from other accountants/assistant accountants to ensure accuracy, attend to audit queries.
• Provide financial analysis, advice and support to the business where required.

About you

This role will suit someone with the following experience, skills and abilities:

• Qualified Accountant, Chartered Accountant (CA) or Certificate Practicing Account (CPA) qualification
• Demonstrated intermediate knowledge of accounting principles and internal controls
• Proven experience in delivering effective financial reporting and analysis that meet business needs and demonstrate the courage to challenge the status quo
• Intermediate working knowledge of Microsoft Dynamics AX, Business Central or similar accounting ERPs will be highly regarded
• Proven well developed written and interpersonal communication and presentation skills, with a strong customer service focus.
• Demonstrated ability to collaborate with others to drive improvements that deliver fast and efficient processes and procedures
• Experience in managing or mentoring a staff will be advantageous
• Proven track record in improving processes
• Exceptional attention to detail and strong numerical skills
• Intermediate working knowledge of the Microsoft Office suite of products with the ability to learn new software applications. Intermediate MS Excel skills required (i.e. the ability to efficiently work with larger datasets using appropriate functions and Pivot Tables is essential)
