About the Centre:

C&K Boopa Werem Kindergarten Community Kindergarten is a not-for-profit, Community Kindergarten service affiliated with C&K, the Crèche and Kindergarten Association. It is run by a volunteer management committee. C&K Boopa Werem Kindergarten Community Kindergarten offers a Queensland Government approved Kindergarten program which services children in the Cairns areas.

We aim to provide a safe and supportive centre where children can develop a sense of identity and wellbeing. We aim to provide experiences within the play based context that encourage learning, experimenting, problem solving and communication. Our interactions with the children and each other support and promote care, empathy and respect.

About the role:

As the Teacher, you will be responsible for managing the day-to-day operation of the kindergarten group by implementing the Queensland Government Approved Kindergarten Program.

This position is Contract permanent part-time starting in Term 3 until the end of year 9/12/2022 with a possibility of further employment. This position is working a five-day fortnight program on alt Wednesday, Thursday and Friday.

Ideal applicants will have:

  • Bachelor Degree in Early Childhood or equivalent (recognised by ACECQA as an early childhood teaching qualification)
  • Current registration with the Queensland College of Teachers
  • Experience working in a C&K centre and with a parent management committee would be highly desirable
  • Relevant teaching or directing experience within an Early Childhood environment essential
  • Knowledge of National Quality Framework and Standards ("NQF" and "NQS"), the Early Years Learning Framework ("EYLF")
  • Demonstrated ability to develop, plan and implement a high quality educational and child centred program
  • A proven ability to work independently, demonstrate initiative and make decisions
  • Current paid or exemption Blue Card
  • Current First Aid/ CPR including Asthma and Anaphylaxis certificates
  • High level of written and verbal communication skills
  • Ability to mentor, coach and work with all educators to meet the requirements of their position
  • A commitment to continuing professional and personal development
