About the opportunity 

C&K Clinton Community Childcare Centre is a unique centre that caters for up to 66 children across 5 learning spaces. Our Centre is looking for an enthusiastic and passionate Early Childhood Teacher to join our team. The service is looking for someone who is a self-starter, armed with a creative vision to help the service blossom. An approachable leader amongst the community for families, children, and employees; and a successful educator who has a hands-on approach in teaching as well as capable of managing the service operationally.

Key accountabilities:

  • Ensure meals and snacks are prepared and served on time according to the needs of individual children and the program
  • Ensure a high standard of hygiene is maintained at all times
  • Develop and maintain an effective teamwork relationship with all staff
  • Maintain direct, open and effective communication channels with all staff.
  • Perform duties to maintain kitchen work areas, white goods and utensils in a clean and orderly condition
  • Order and maintain appropriate food supplies according to menu requirements
  • Assist in the preparation of materials for children’s cooking as required
  • Participate in an appropriate food handling training program
  • Undertake any duties as requested by the Centre Director
  • Completing daily reports if required
  • Actively participate in staff meetings and training opportunities

Ideal applicants will have:

  • Relevant qualifications in respect to food handling is essential
  • Previous experience in preparing meals and snacks for large numbers preferred
  • An ability to uphold time schedules for meal preparation, while remaining flexible to the needs of the children
  • Working knowledge of legislative requirements including Workplace Health & Safety and Food Safety Standards
  • Must serve to promote social justice and equity by demonstrating an attitude of acceptance and respect for all children and their families
  • Must be willing to ensure the individual needs of the child are catered for, in collaboration with their families the Director and the Manager
  • A demonstrated commitment to continuing professional and personal development
  • A proven ability to manage the kitchen environment in a safe and responsible manner
  • An ability to work as an effective team member and support other staff
  • An ability to work independently to achieve work goals
  • Demonstrated ability to maintain a high standard in preparation, ordering, storage and food handling
