Mackay Children and Family Centre (MCFC) is an Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander service which provides access to integrated early childhood education and care, parenting and family support and child maternal health services. Our centre incorporates a Long Day Care Centre and a Hub, that are designed to work together as an integrated unit.

Join our family

We are now looking for a full time Lead Practitioner to join our team for an immediate start.

In this role you will be leading a proud team that develops, implements, and evaluates a range of culturally sensitive, child-centred, early childhood programs and services across our local community.

Each day at the MCFC could see you:

  • Lead, facilitate and support positive integration of services between the hub, childcare service, and the community.
  • Oversee the delivery of programs and support services that promote positive and dynamic approaches to family support, early childhood education and care and child/family wellbeing.
  • Support and develop a high performing team that works collaboratively with Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander families in their community to identify strengths, mitigate risk factors, increase capacity for resilience and promote positive family relationships.
  • Provide one-on-one interventions to families including community and home visiting, counselling, practical support and undertake group work with our other MCFC employees and community agency employees.

You will be a highly valued member of our team, working 38 hours per week, Monday to Friday.

The salary range for this position is $88,757.77 - $92,775.77 per annum under the Social, Community, Home Care and Disability Services (SCHADS) Industry Award to be negotiated depending upon qualifications and experience, plus superannuation.

How you can Empower our People

Ideally you will bring knowledge and understanding of the stresses on Aboriginal, Torres Strait Islander and Australian South Sea Islander families and the range of family risk and protective factors which impact on child outcomes.

You will also need:

  • A qualification (Degree Level or higher) in Social/Behavioural Sciences or related discipline in addition to previous experience leading a multidisciplinary team in family support
  • A Current open Drivers Licence
  • A Current Paid Blue Card (or willing to obtain)
  • Current First Aid & CPR Certificate (or willing to obtain)
