The Childcare and Kindergarten Association Limited (C&K) is a not-for-profit early childhood provider with nearly 350 early childhood education and care services located across Queensland. C&K acknowledges that each child and family have unique early education and care requirements and so we provide a range of different programs including childcare, kindergarten, outside school hours' care and integrated services.

About the opportunity

This position is responsible for leading the payroll function to ensure that the payroll is processed efficiently and effectively for the organisation. Key responsibilities will include (but not be limited to):

  • Lead and manage a high performing team to ensure payroll is processed within timeframes and is accurate and compliant.
  • Process termination payments to staff in accordance with agreement requirements and legislation.
  • Complete month end and end of financial year processes whilst balancing and reconciling within timeframes and compiling of any related reports.
  • Ensure payroll procedures and policies align with C&K policies.
  • Ensure all payroll information is entered accurately into payroll system and all records are maintained in accordance with statutory requirements.
  • Administer and reconcile company superannuation.
  • Ensure payroll system configuration complies with Single Touch Payroll requirements.

This position is based at our Central office (Kedron) and will have the flexibility to work remotely.

About you

This position will suit someone with the following experience, skills and abilities: 

  • Significant hands-on experience running a payroll for a medium-to-large, complex organisation
  • Demonstrated experience working with multiple awards and other industrial instruments.
  • Chris21 payroll system experience (desirable).
  • Proven leadership experience that creates integrity and respect in a high performing, high volume payroll team.
  • Proven well developed written, verbal, interpersonal communication and presentation skills coupled with a strong customer service focus.
  • Demonstrated ability to collaborate with others to drive improvements that deliver fast and efficient processes and procedures.
  • Proven experience in delivering reports that are effective, meet business needs and demonstrate the courage to challenge the status quo.
  • Demonstrated ability to organise and prioritise work, managing multiple tasks and projects and function effectively as a self-directed co-ordinator of multiple initiatives.
